A Summer Folly

On Thursday, August 25th, 2021, Above Board—All Hands on Deck hosted their third fundraising event, A Summer Folly held at Old Vines Wine Bar, to support the renovation of the newly envisioned Kennebunk Skate Park.

Skateparks provide an open, inviting space where people of any age, race, gender, socioeconomic status or skill level can safely gather to skate, ride, or scoot. After an isolating stint with Covid-19, Above Board felt the opportunity to promote inclusive outdoor fun in a safe environment was just what our community needed.

The evening featured delicious bites by Old Vines Wine Bar, musical entertainment by Boston-based band Night Shift, and a silent auction of 19 hand-painted skateboard decks.

The Above Board goal was to raise $30,000 to fully fund phase II of the project, but thanks to a special donation by the Tommy McNamara Foundation and other community-driven charitable organizations, the town received more than $40,000 to assist with the Kennebunk Skatepark renovations.
